The Keynsham leisure centre project
Keynsham Community Energy are pleased to be behind Keynsham's first community energy project to install a 98KW solar array on the Keynsham leisure centre roof.
The energy produced by the panels will be bought and used by the leisure centre, with surplus being sold back to the grid. By investing in the project, you’ll be helping to keep the energy and the money generated by the project in our local community.

Keynsham Community Energy is run by local people for local people. We are always keen to work with people and organisations who share our aims, values and principles, and want to help us shape Keynsham’s energy future for the better.
As a community benefit Society, Keynsham Community Energy is run as a not-for-profit by members of the community for the benefit of the community as a whole.
Community ownership
Our mission is to help Keynsham develop a clean energy future, mitigate climate change by installing renewable energy generation, and to do this in a fair and democratic way by spreading the ownership and benefits across the community rather than concentrating them in the hands of the few.
We are offering local people an opportunity to invest in our share offer to install a 98KW solar array on the Keynsham leisure centre roof, and additionally in solar arrays in local Keynsham schools. How to get involved
- You can invest in our regulated, energy generation programmes and receive good potential return on your investment (typically 3% - 7%)
- You can join our steering group that meets three times a year
- You can become a Director of Keynsham Community Energy
- You can become a partner of Keynsham Community Energy. We are interested in working with local businesses with land or roof space to develop more community-owned renewable energy projects in return for a reduction in the cost of your energy.
